Meet Dr. McConnell

A native Georgian, Dr. McConnell received an undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and completed medical training at Mercer University-Savannah. After completion of ophthalmology residency training at Temple University in Philadelphia, Dr. McConnell returned to Georgia.  In addition to a year of scientific research at the Medical College of Georgia, he has participated in medical missions in Honduras and Cambodia. 

He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a comprehensive ophthalmologic surgeon who treats a wide spectrum of eye conditions. Dr. McConnell has a special interest in oculoplastic eye surgery, including blepharoplasty to treat droopy eyelids, as well as cataract surgery. He takes pride in placing his patients’ interests first above all else. He also offers CO2 laser skin resurfacing for patients seeking non-surgical facial rejuvenation.

Dr. McConnell enjoys a variety of extracurricular activities. In addition to running numerous marathons, Dr. McConnell has completed two Ironman triathlons. Dr. McConnell is married to Dr. Whitney McConnell, a surgical podiatrist. They are blessed with two children, Stephen Michael and Vivian. They enjoy traveling when time allows.
